Akashi-Tai has solidified its position as the UK’s leading premium sake brand, reporting an impressive 26% year-on-year sales growth. This success mirrors a broader trend, as UK sake exports have skyrocketed by 187% in value since 2020. Crafted by the Yonezawa family since 1856, the brand remains rooted in tradition, using authentic small-batch methods and the finest Yamadanishiki rice. Beyond classic styles, Akashi-Tai is capturing a younger demographic through innovative offerings like its Sparkling Sake and citrus-forward Yuzushu.
To mark the arrival of Sakura season, the brewery is launching high-profile cocktail collaborations with partners such as Sticks’n’Sushi and KIBOU. The brand is also taking center stage in the luxury on-trade, featuring guest appearances by world-renowned bartender Hiroyasu Kayama at iconic venues like China Tang and Sexy Fish. Currently available nationwide through major retailers like Waitrose and Majestic, Akashi-Tai continues to expand its footprint across Europe. With the UK market projected to exceed £222 million by 2028, Akashi-Tai is perfectly positioned to lead the next generation of sake appreciation.
